Favoriten is the 10thdistrict of Vienna in Austria. It is situated to the south of the central districts of Wieden, Innere Stadt and Margareten. The 10th district is mostly urban and densely populated supporting more than 150,000 residents within an area of approximately 32 square kilometres. Favoriten has several residential buildings and large recreational parks as well as hosting the famous Generali Arena, which is a famous stadium for soccer followers. However the most popular attractions in the 10th district include the Wasserturmor Water Tower, St. Anton von Padua church and Spinnerin am Kreuz- an epic monument.
- Visit the Spinnerinam Kreuz located in Wienerberg area of Favoriten, an authentic and highly popular shrine built of limestone and depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the thorn crown coronation and the scene of “Ecce Homo”.
- Do not miss the Wasserturm, a well-known landmark in the 10thdistrict with a great viewing platform from where you can see the Schneeberg Mountains on one side and enjoy a charming vista of Central Vienna on the other.
- Visit Pfarrkiche Oberlaa, a beautiful Baroque church in Vienna depicting statues of the duo of St. Paul and St. Peter.
The 10th district is greatly connected with all areas of Vienna by underground means as well as bus and tramlines. Favoriten is only 2.5 kilometres away from the city centre at Karlsplatz, Oper. Using Metro line U1, you will arrive in Keplerplatz in Favoritenstrasse in less than20 minutes without changing trains. Favoritenstrasse is the main street at the heart of Favoriten and is a busy area with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. From this street you can walk to several areas of interest. The Sudbahnhof train station is another option but it is yet to be reopened.
