Perth Zoo hotels
Perth Zoo is located in South Perth a few minutes from the Swan River. Interestingly enough, the zoo has been open every day since its opening in 1898 – even on Christmas Day! That’s a strong commitment to the animals that live there. There are lots of things to do on your trip to the zoo, so let’s get into the must-see exhibits and activities at Perth Zoo.
The Perth Zoo currently has 14 specialized animal exhibits including the Australian Bushwalk, Elephants of Asia, the Penguin Plunge, Nocturnal House, Rainforest Retreat, African Savannah, Reptile Encounter, and the Homestead, which features ways in which we can all learn to reduce the harmful affects on the environment.
You can ride the zebra cars for a one hour guided tour of the zoo. This is a leisurely tour that only requires a few dollars and your undivided attention. If you prefer to walk, there is a guided walking tour for free everyday.
Feeding times are posted so you can watch the keepers feed the penguins, ghost bats, and koalas. The Perth Zoo also features special presentations given by the keepers who will explain different animals, how they live, what they eat, and how we can all help to keep them safe and secure in the wild. There are several question and answer talks given throughout the day so make sure to check the schedule to see which one interests you.
Children will love the historical restored carousel at the Perth Zoo. Parents can watch their children ride as they sit at the nearby Zoo Café under cover from the sun. To preserve memories of your trip to the zoo, have your picture taken and then superimposed into any animal exhibit picture you choose. You can be sitting next to the crocs or hanging around with the monkeys.
When planning your trip to Perth to visit the zoo, make sure you stay at the Metro Hotel. As a local landmark, everyone in Perth is familiar with the Metro Hotel. You can stay on a budget with the average room rates less than $100 a night. Make your trip to Perth fun filled with a room at the Metro.
