Great location for a Melbourne visit base - but noisy

Good value overall for a very spacious, comfortable suite with separate bed and sitting rooms, plus a well equipped kitchenette. Guests should be aware that this is a large, very noisy hotel, especially at weekends when some Saturday night visitors get back in the early hours and hold parties in their rooms. Hotel staff are unable to curtail these interruptions to a good night's sleep.

Great location and even better value

Quick checkin and off exploring st kilda road. Great room. Only downside was the shower floor that didn't stop the water spreading across the whole bathroom.

Unexpectedly good!

I did not expect the space, after having stayed at another hotel very recently where I was given a tiny room in which I could hardly move. I travelled with my family (2A+2C) for this one. It was great. Nice little kitchenette (which had almost everything but a peeler). The bathroom was clean, there were TV's in both rooms of the suite. The best thing was the price which i found extremely reasonable. But the one hitch was that the parking (extra payment of $15 per night) was rather diifficult to manage, rather a tightish squeeze. But all in all, very good value for money. Quite comfortable. I was happy with the stay.

convenient and comfortable

Comfortable stay, free newspapers, effort made to meet needs eg parking, late checkout etc. Quick service if anything goes wrong (ie TV swiched itself off accidentally). The only negative is that free WI Fi is not available

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

One and half hours of free parking in lane way near the hotel starting from 9am which means that one can park there overnight during weekdays and not have to get up too early in the morning to move the car (or to pay for parking at the hotel)

Plenty of room

We had a one bedroom for a family of 4. Adults in the bedroom and kids shared a sofa bed in lounge. The areas were big and had dinning table and kitchen. Friendly service. Would stay there again.

Ok stay at a discounted rate

I decided to give this apartment hotel a go as I had read it had recently been updated and I also got what I thought was a good deal at the time but now I think I could have stayed somewhere better (and in fact I have stayed somewhere better in the same area for the same price or less). If this apartment hotel has been updated then I am not sure what the room(s) would have looked like before. The decor was tired and shabby in parts and was budget hotel standard. The bathroom was grubby and there were no individual toiletries for use - you had to dispense the soap, shampoo, conditioner etc from large automatic bulk-supply dispensers attached to the shower and bathroom walls which was reminiscent of staying in a hostel. The hairdryer looked like it was from the 80's. The toilet paper was 1 ply, if that. There were no instant coffee sachets for a quick cuppa when I arrived, only tea which looked like it had been there for a long time. The bedside lamp didn't work ... It's little touches and attention to these sorts of things which make a good stay. The lifts are really slow and take forever to arrive. On the plus side, the location is great with direct access to the CBD by tram or a nice 40 min walk if it's a nice day. Other than that, unless you get a special deal with a room rate of $100, (I paid $135 and that was too much compared to other places I have stayed at nearby and the standard of the hotel) take your custom somewhere else.

Good value hotel

We booked a hotel room for a Saturday night out in Melbourne. The room was clean, well decorated and spacious. The bed comfortable and the included breakfast tasty. We chose to park, for free on a nearby road all weekend and both caught a tram(10mins) and walked (45mins) to the CBD. A very pleasant stay for the price and we will happily return.

Enjoyable long weekend away

The Griffin was a little out of the way with no resturants nearby. You would need to walk at least 20 mins to the resturant strip although you could catch the trams which run right outside the hotel. Our room was large enough but you do have office buildings next door so you need to keep the curtains drawn if you require privacy. Over all it was nice enough and would stay there again good value for money.
