not quite mint

I've stayed at the Mantra (formerly Mint) on St Kilda Rd 10 or so times in the past few years and have always enjoyed its convenience, amenities and value for money. But since Mantra took over, the service has slipped noticeably. During my last stay of 10 days, I had to ask twice for my room to be made up despite leaving the note on the door. The minibar wasn't restocked and the car I ordered to the airport didn't show up. This also happened on a previous visit when a wake-up call I booked never came. And really guys, charging $25 a day for Wifi is sooo outdated! Keep up with the competition and I'll keep staying!

Great new hotel, Busy check in/out.

Great new hotel, Beautiful rooms and and amazing value. Location is fairly close to the city maybe 10 mins by tram. Its a stones throw away from Albert park. The only fault i have with my stay was the checking in and out was very busy. On arrival the rooms were still not ready. Didnt need to to wait long but you do kinda want to get in your room and not hang around for 15 mins. All the staff were fine and kept you well informed. Would defiantly stay again.

Good place to stay

The Mint Hotel was not easy to locate as the name had been changed after our booking that was really annoying since were are not familiar with the area. The room was good as were the staff, the restaurant was not open on a Saturday night which was disappointing. Probably wouldn't stay again but for people doing business in that part of town it would be ideal.

Footy and Comedy Weekend

It was my first time booking, I am not sure whether the staff were new or just didn't know what they were doing. As I had already paid on-line with the booking agency, the staff charged me again for the room and a $100.00 deposit, the said as it was the weekend they couldn't refund my money they told me they couldn't refund my money until Monday which I don't think is acceptable as every eftpos machine has a refund button, I was left short of money for the weekend, I rang today (Monday) I asked them if they would ring the bank to refund my money back it's now 5.15pm and it is still not refunded back to me. Maybe I should have taken more responsibility and mentioned I'd already paid for the room, I would of thought it would come up as paid when they found my booking. Anyway with all that been said if I stay there again I will be more aware. as the hotel itself is very pleasant with some lovely art work and very clean and tidy. Cheers Vicki

Good location at a good price

The hotel staff were friendly and polite but did not go out of their way Room was comfortable and no street noise. There was a balcony but the view was of the next door building, not appealing. We were on the 6th floor. The bed was very comfortable. We had to ask for extra pillows. Basic toiletries were provided, but no shower cap. Tea and coffee facilities, microwave and cooktop and an overly large refrigerator. The decor was old fashioned and a bit kitsch. This hotel is good value
