Parliament Gardens hotels
Melbourne is known as the Garden City of Australia, and for good reason, as it is home to some of the nicest public gardens in the world, including beautiful Parliament Gardens. Parliament Gardens were situated on the Spring Street end of Melbourne and were designed by William Guilfoyle in the early 20th century. Parliament Gardens were also built using the traditional European style and are surrounded by some of the most beautiful and important structures in Melbourne, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Access to Parliament Gardens is restricted, so plan ahead to see the whole thing.
- Take a stroll around the public portion of the Parliament Gardens and you will be afforded great views of the Parliament House and Old Synagogue whilst being flanked by colourful Melbourne flowers.
- Beat the Melbourne heat by taking a quiet soak in the curtains of water that rain down from the Coles Fountain in Parliament Park—a great way to cool off after a walk around the park.
- Visit the Parliament House Gardens on one of the public days and you can see the restricted part that includes amazing botanical gardens and the ancient Federal Oak tree.
Oftentimes the Parliament Gardens are included on walking tours of Melbourne, so many people choose to be led by an expert guide that can point out the many attractions and historic buildings in the area. Otherwise, the best way to get there is to use the Melbourne Tram and get off at the Albert Street station that is located just a short walk from the Parliament Gardens. You can also use any of the tramlines that go along Victoria Street and just hop off when you start seeing signs for the Parliament Gardens.
