The National Gallery of Victoria was established in 1891 and is the oldest art museum in Australia. Located in Melbourne, it is also the largest public art museum within the country. The National Gallery of Victoria is a treasure trove of art, and its collection features over 70,000 unique pieces of artwork from around the world. Operating within two sites, the NGV International and the Ian Potter Center feature International drawings, Australian paintings, Asian art, Egyptian artefacts, and numerous other attractions within the gallery's collection, which is a huge draw with art lovers from around the world.

The public transportation system of Melbourne offers convenient access to the National Gallery of Victoria. Located at St. Kilda Road in Southbank, the train station nearest to the NGV International museum is Flinders Street Station. The Gallery is just a short walk from the stop. For a tram ride, board St. Kilda Road/ Swanston Street tram numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67 or 72, and end at the Arts Precinct stop. Trams to the Ian Potter Centre include the Flinders Street and Swanson Street routes, with the entrance located on Federation Square.
