Docklands is the product of an on-going redevelopment of the old industrial port. It is home to several modern landmarks and definitely a place to visit if you are on holiday in Melbourne! Located on the banks of the Yarra River, Docklands is the place to go for shopping, fine dining, and public art and events. New buildings are architecturally unique, as the Southern Cross Station on Spencer Street, which sports a unique sculptured roof that stands out in the area skyline. Many of the other buildings in Docklands are award-winning partnerships between architects and artists.
- Go ice skating Docklands’ Medibank Icehouse; whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned figure skater, this well-designed facility will keep you sliding smoothly!
- Shop at the Docklands Sunday Market, where you’ll find original crafts and gently-used vintage items in street pavilions located along the docks.
- Take the kids to ride the Grand Carousel and other rides at Wonderland Fun Park at the Harbour Town Shopping Centre, one of Melbourne’s most diverse shopping areas.
