Strahan has an oceanic climate that features mild summers and cool winters. Rainfall is consistent throughout the year, although winter tends be a bit wetter. Average temperatures during the winter months of June through August are around 55°F (13°C); average temperatures during the summer months of December through March range between 68°F (20°C) and 70°F (21°C).
Getting There & Around
For those coming into the country, flights will arrive at Hobart Airport. From the airport, visitors will follow the A10 for a scenic trek though the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. By car, this journey will take about five hours. The West Coast Wilderness Railway also operates between Queenstown and Strahan.
In the town, walking and cycling will get visitors to most places. To reach the wilderness areas, helicopter flights from Strahan Airport will provide service. It is important to note that this airport only operates flights for recreation.
