Very good value and service

I made a mistake with the booking dates, but the receptionist, who was very friendly and efficient, quickly found an apartment for us. The apartment was very clean, and comfortable. The bed too was very comfortable. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Our room-service meal was very good. The tariff was very reasonable. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend.

excellent room but poor heating

My stay has been enjoyable, staff friendly, restaurant provides good food, room service fod quality great, wifi unrestricted and strong signal. Rooms are recently renovated and includes microwave and toaster. My only issue is the heating system. It is very cold here in the mornings and evenings and the reverse cycle heating system does not provide enough heat. I needed to wrap a blanket around me while watching tv in the evening.

Great place to stay

We stayed 2 nights at the Sebel in Launceston. The first night in a regular room and then we came back a week later and stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment. The accommodation both times was excellent. The apartment was huge with all amenities required to be self sufficient. It was clean and well furnished. We ate at their restaurant one night and the food was beautiful. The hotel is situated well within an easy walk to the town centre and a nice walk to the Gorge. Definitely a great place to stay.

Great place to stay

Convenient location. The 1-bedroom suite is nicely decorated and the suite is spotless clean. The staff was very generous and offers free wifi for our 2 night stay, in compensation for the temporary problem of the door access card. One minor issue is the carparking space, which we found too small for our SUV. Overall, it's good value for money.

Friendly and helpful staff

The system was down when we check-in but our check-in still went relatively smooth. However, the card for access to the room was not very reliable and everytime, we have to try several times before we can get into the room. The room card which should also provide access from the parking to the hotel never worked and we either have to knock on the door to have someone open the door for us or we have to walk outside from the parking and enter the buidling from the main entrance. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The room was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good and we can walk to the main shopping area and restuarants even though we choose not to as the first night we saw some police arresting a gentlemen just half a block away. The area does not feel unsafe but we avoided walking just to be safe. There were no positive surprises as we have stayed in better Sebel hotels but overall, we had a comfortable stay and have no issue with staying in the hotel again. The major issue was the parking. The parking spaces was a bit tight even for the mid size SUV we rented. There were also very limited parking space. We returned to the hotel after dinner, probably around 9-ish and we took up the last space avaliable on our first night.

Catching up with family in Tassie

This is the third time we have stayed at The Sebel Launceston. The first 2 times were perfect. On checking in this time the staff member didn`t seem very "with it" she couldn`t find our booking at first then really didn`t explain anything. We arrived into our room to find it smelt awful, as we were staying 6 nights we decided we would not be able to sleepin such a smelly room for 6 nights so went to ask to change rooms which we did do without a fuss. Overall they are nice apartments and we couldn`t ask for anything else to be included, there is a full fridge/ freezer, 2 burner cooktop, microwave, dishwasher drawer, and all pots, pans crockery to self cater if needed. The bed is comfortable and other than the smelly room has always been clean. When we were checking out we were asked to pay for parking, unfortunately we were under the impression parking had been included in the rate we paid as it had been the previous 2 times. When we mentioned this and also the fact that the girl who checked us in didn`t mention the cost of parking the girl on the desk said oh well she probably should have. I guess it wouldn`t be a problem paying extra for the parking if there were enough parking spots available and if you didn`t have to park on the street and run down to the meter at times, seems a bit odd that they hand out more parking permits than they have spaces and then charge everyone knowing there are not enough spots. We had breakfast in the restaurant once but found the staff member didn`t seem to want to be there and the food was less than average for the price. I would think twice before booking here again.

Good stay but cold.

We had another good stay. The staff were great including handling a 1.30 am fire alarm quickly and with good communication. The only criticism is that the rooms was cold and the heater took a long time to heat it up. Electric Blankets on the bed would have been appreciated. Will stay there again.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

The Pinot Shop has an excellent range of wine, including Tasmanian, at good prices. Ask for Michelle.
