Great location close to shops

We received a friendly welcome at check-in. Parking is free but limited and tight. Our room was a good price for the location. However, when you find other people's hairs in the bathroom you question how well it is cleaned. There was also a leaking tap that could be heard during the night. The heat pump was quiet but blew cold air on to us while in bed when it reached temperature. There were electric blankets on the beds but only a light blanket and no extra ones were provided. The hotel is only an easy walk to the city centre or short drive to the many restaurants Hobart has to offer.

Old style hotel great location

This hotel is located right in the heart of Hobart CBD, close to restaurants, major shops, transport, gaming venue, Cat and Fiddle Arcade. Another plus- it's right across the road from Raspberry Fool, a great breakfast cafe. The hotel is popular with groups, but had no noise issues. Walking into the breakfast restaurant is like walking back into the 70s, tired, in need of a complete refit. A bit like the hotel itself. Worn around the edges, but large rooms, comfortable beds, clean linen and towels, free parking (a big plus!). All you need if you are not looking for a resort-style holiday. Within walking distance of the waterfront, restaurants, cafes, tours, and Salamanca market. Great value.

From bad to good

Stayed two nights. The first night the bed was hard and the springs sprung as you moved. A very uncomfortable night. This little to no ensured. The staff member on duty listened and agreed that it wasn't good enough and ungraded us to a very comfortable room for the second night.

Lovely weekend away!

We stayed for the long weekend.Arrived at about 11am but couldn't check into room until 2pm. However we put our bags behind the counter and went for a stroll and got a call early from the receptionist saying the room was ready. Rom was very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were very friendly. Our only disappointment was the fact that WiFi wasn't free of charge.

good value venue

We had a very small room on the front corner but then we paid less than $100 for it so cant complain. The other rooms along the corridor looked quite a bit larger. On the internet booking site ours was called a Junior suite which in other hotels usually implies a better room. The room service food was nicely cooked, the bacon and egg breakfast quite acceptable for the $15 price. Our room was happily given to us an hour early which was greatly appreciated after a 3 hour drive. The café downstairs was a good addition for a meal. All in all we found it good for the price.

Use Criterion Lane that runs down the carpark side of the hotel to get to the shops such as Myer. It is a quick and easy route with coffee shops along it.

Good Solid Accommodation

Centrally located, clean, a bit run down but friendly staff and a goos restaurant on the ground floor. Being on an uphill main city road it is a bit noisy - mainly with motor bikes an d open exhaust cars in the street. However, with the window closed this is tolerable. I recommend it as a reasonable night's accommodation and would stay there again.
