Nice and Peaceful

This place was certainly a surprise. A very interesting configuration however very cleverly designed. We felt quite at home and were able to rest peacefully even with the rain and wind lashing at the roof. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend to others.

Alternative

Looks well but facilities are so old that shower water flows very slow, the water colour is bad, I didn't use the water in the room.

Great place to stay

This was our first visit to Cradle mountain and found this place to be the ideal place to stay. We had our own little cottage which was very well equipped. It had a very comfortable bed, separate little lounge and cooking area as well as our own veranda looking into the bush. It was well heated, had a large screen tv and dvd. The complex comprises about 45 units but they are located in groups of three so you do not even know there are other people around you. The wild life is a bit tame and well overfed from food given to them by guests. Our resident wallaby who stood under our veranda waiting for food was very fond of and apple or two. There was also a very large wombat which seemed to live around the reception building. A great way to experience the bush and the national park while still having all the comforts of home

Great location but that's about it

We arrived after a long drive and found the staff welcoming and friendly. The resort is in a great position to access Cradle Mountain. The restaurant was welcoming and the food good although the menu was limited. Unfortunately the room was a real let down, drab in need of an update and not at all practical if you are a family, with a single bedroom just off the entrance next to the bathroom and the double bed in the lounge area. The bed was uncomfortable, too small for two adults to sleep comfortably, the cooking facilities were adequate but I wouldn't have wanted to cook for a family on the 2 ring stove top. The room was freezing cold despite having the heater on full all night and the electric blanket we were still too cold to sleep properly. The view from the room was disappointing with a swamp like area right outside the balcony, though we dud see the promised wildlife right below our balcony it did not make up for the disappointment we felt in fact we checked out a day early.

Cradle Mountain winter experience

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Wilderness Village very much. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We were impressed by the kitchenette, although small, everything that you could need was there. Along with the expected cutlery and crockery were saucepans, sharp knives, cooking utensils and wine glasses. The heating was excellent, it coped with the snowy conditions with ease. We intend to go back again.

Fantastic and value for money

Location wise it's one of the best as it's situated pretty much outside the entrance to the paid entrance area. Except for pepper lodge but they're a tad level higher and prices are at least twice as much so cradle village is really excellent for its price. Room's clean and tidy, well equipped, sufficient to whip out a meal if one wishes. One of the downsides is that they don't provide free wifi. At this time of age it's really ridiculous to ask for $5 for an hour of wifi usage. It just makes u look stingy. But then again it's australia, not Asia, where everything is much slower and less efficient. Wild animals running around at night, thus really fun and interesting. Wombat came onto my balcony for my case. Service was good. Didn't try their restaurant, but looks not too bad. Might be worth a try. Food around is definitely expensive so prepare to cook if ur not willing to splurge.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Make use of their facilities and whip urself a meal instead of dining out as it's expensive around the mountains. So purchase groceries before coming in.

Perfectly located

We literally only slept in the room food one night, so didn't use the village amenities. The location is perfect and we were very excited at our animal visitor to put balcony, however the cottage was very cold and the heater took a long time to heat the area.
