Family getaway

For an old hotel it was ok. I swapped rooms with someone as I oringinally booked a family room but I wish I had kept the one I booked as it was very small. It was very basic accommodation.

Oh dear

Pitched as an old fashioned hotel, it sadly misses the mark with tired furniture and rooms in need of a make over. The hotel is not helped with building work next door starting at 06.30 and a gaming room attached. It all gives a seedy feel to it. By contrast the staff were very helpful.

A Run Down Establishment in CBD Adelaide

Would never stay here again. Once entered the lobby we were greeted by a smell, which followed us via old and battered elevator to a shabby room. We bought a plug-in odour neutraliser to battle the room smell. Unfortunately the booking was non-refundale and we had to endure 4 nights there. The room decor was non existing, with unmatched scratched bedside tables. One bedside lamp did not generate enough light for reading - a $15 lamp was bought to enjoy a read in bed. Two antique-looking chairs, nearly falling apart when we tried to sit on them, finalised the decor. Carpet in this hotel had not seen a vacuum cleaner for a long time . The sink had not been washed once during our stay. Sink also did not have a mixer - hot and cold water needed to be mixed in the basin. Shower overflow did not drain, soaking the bath mat on each occasion. Free Internet was not worth it, dropping out every 15 min, requiring password input on each occasion. Continental breakfast could barely claim being a breakfast. Hot water system was working, for that we are grateful.

Service improvement

This is classified as a hotel but when asked if there could provide a common microwave on each floor, staff did not see the need for this. To move with the times I think there is need for the hotel to have a common use microwave on each floor for the quest to use. Quest can buy their own take away but opt to have the meal in their rooms and as such can be able to warm their food.

won't be coming back

Location might be convenient but the room was tiny. The back laneway was noisy in the middle of the night even mid-week. Staff were friendly.

Not good

Was not told that we had to walk up and down stairs - that was bad enough, but no handrails is extremely poor. Asked to change our room as it was dirty, extremely cold and not at all what was perceived. There were extension cords hanging from the wall - a real safety issue as well. The second room was a little better, but still not the cleanest. I understand that it is a heritage building, but no excuse for cleanliness. The only thing I can say is that the staff were excellent and assisted as much as they could

Good value for money

Clean room - comfortable bed, all you need. But try to avoid a room that faces onto the street - its very loud and the curtains very are thin!!!

dissappoined about the room

The food was terriffic, staff looked after us. But was really dissatisfied about the room. They was no bed side light at all. I had asked for a double bed and two single we had three singles. They was no window we could have opened. Was OK for a one night stay
