Beware of the Family Room

We booked the family room as it was advertised as ideal for families. It isn't. It's just 2 separate rooms, each with its own heavy, numbered, card-operated door coming off a short corridor leading to a small bathroom. The room doors have to be chocked open for early morning toilet trips, lest you be locked out on your return. We would have been better off just booking 2 separate rooms, each with its own ensuite. The shower head is good for remedial massages, punching out 10 jets of heavy pressure, otherwise expect a short shower. Location, cleanliness and service were satisfactory, but they don't warn you that your credit card will be docked $10 in case you make telephone calls you surely won't be making in this day and age.

Value for money

This hotel is actually situated on the fringe of the CBD, so it is a walk to get to the CBD but not far away is two free bus loops and the tram. If you do not mind walking to get to the city or the nightlife then its the way to go. The building is wonderful and the rooms are a good size and quiet. There is a community kitchen if you want to save money and cook your own food. The internet was disappointing as it was a little slow and actually has adult restrictions. ( I don't get that??) Most of the staff are helpful and polite.

Business/pleasure

Stayed 5 nights. Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms are a good size, with daily service. The thick corridor carpet and location ensures quiet evenings. Complimentary breakfasts did not rock my boat, more due to personal preference. Everyone else seemed to be tucking in nicely. Was promptly informed to use the free tram service into the city, as the location is a bit out of the way from the entertainment area, esp when returning on foot late at night. Would recommend to people who don't mind a walk.

Good base for Womad attendance

Nice sized room, quiet and comfortable, with good facilities. We didn't use the shared kitchen facility, but it always looked clean and tidy. Breakfast was adequate, but a bit basic - only white-bread for toast is so last century! It is a 15 min walk to Rundle st, but that makes it a quiet location - can't have it both ways!
