Victoria Square hotels
Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, is home to the famous Victoria Square, a public commons located in the city centre. Named after Princess Victoria, the country’s princess at the time of its construction, this vibrant local hotspot boasts her breathtaking statue at its exact centre. A beautiful fountain adorns the northern part of Victoria Square, representative of the three rivers that provide natural resources for a large majority of Adelaide’s population. A true relic of the past, Victoria Square enjoys many admiring visitors year after years for its surrounding attractions as well, including the Supreme Court of South Australia, the Cathedral Church, and the stunning Heinz College.
- Explore Adelaide Central Market, which is situated on the western side of the Victoria Square, and features over 80 cafes and restaurants offering an amazing variety of food, well known as Australia’s primary outdoor market.
- Visit St. Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, a Roman Catholic Church on the eastern side of Victoria Square featuring a lovely statue of St. Mary with her adoring little children.
- Enjoy the General Post Office, the Anglo-Italian building featuring an impressive clock tower called the Victoria Tower, once the tallest building in Adelaide.
Adelaide is called “the twenty minute city” because of its highly efficient road networks that make transit around the area easy. Public transit is also famously efficient throughout the city, offering travellers bus, tram, and train transit. For quick pick-ups and drop-offs, visitors should contact the Wandering Star Service. Taxis are also abundantly available throughout the city, providing affordable transit to anywhere in the area. Trams commute every fifteen minutes between Moseley Square and Victoria Square, from six in the morning to just before midnight.
