North Terrace hotels
North Terrace is one of the four terraces that form the boundary around the central business district of Adelaide, Australia. This east-west terrace runs along the north side of the central business district and is known as a historic walking route due to the large number of historic buildings and monuments along the way. This cultural boulevard contains some great examples of early South Australia architecture including the Anglican Holy Trinity Church, the oldest church in the city. This walk is not to be missed for those who want to explore the cultural history of Adelaide.
- Watch a performance from some of Adelaide’s best dramatic actors at the Lion Performing Arts Centre, one of the central features of the North Terrace, as well as one of the city’s most popular venues for plays.
- Take a relaxing stroll through the Adelaide Botanical Gardens where you will find a bevy of plants and flowers native to Australia.
- Walk beneath the Romanesque columns that welcome visitors to the Art Gallery of South Australia that houses an interesting collection of modern and aboriginal art from around Adelaide.
The North Terrace is one of the boulevards near the central business district and the residential district of Adelaide and is very centrally located and easy to reach. Adelaide’s most popular form of transportation is the Glenelg Tramline that runs along North Terrace, stopping near many of the main attractions of Adelaide. The best way to see and absorb the bevy of historical buildings and monuments on North Terrace is on foot, where you will get a close up look at some of the oldest and most interesting architecture in Southern Australia.
