Relaxing get away

I visited this resort 7 years ago and at that time it was much better. The gardens are overgrown and had cobwebs In our room. The breakfasts were fantastic. Was disappointed at the facilities.

Not good enough for a 5 star resort

The most disappointing part of my weekend was how quiet the resort was. It was a ghost town! After checking in early on the Friday I assured my girlfriend (whom I was taking away for our first holiday together) that it would get busier on Saturday. It didn't. On Saturday night we left our room at 9.05pm for dinner couldn't get served in one restaurant on the entire resort as they closed at 9pm. Yes, on a Saturday night?!?! We were forced to eat room service which was very poor and expensive. Most of the activities and bars were unmanned and phone calls required to have them opened for use for example the tennis centre. Our first room was nice but not significant of the expensive room rate. We were forced to move room after an ant infestation on the first night. The second room we were given was an upgrade and a lot better. The food quality on the resort was OK, but extremely expensive for what it was. The golf course has clearly deteriorated since the PGA withdrew its involvement. Still good, but not excellent, like you would expect from such a reputation. The staff were the best thing at the resort, aside from the reception staff on the desk, who clearly spend the majority of their time fielding complaints. Nearer all food & beverage stag that we came across were lovely, welcoming & thoughtful. However obviously dejected in witnessing the decline of the resort. Overall very disappointing, expensive and I can't see this resort surviving much longer.

Our stay at the Hyatt Regency

Our stay at the Hyatt Regency Coolum was very peaceful and relaxing. The resort is maintained to a very high standard and the spa facilities are worth raving about. The food and staff attention at Eliza's Restaurant is noteworthy.
