The hosts were very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We loved how we could sit in the jacuzzi and watch the footy. Great location. Will stay there again for sure.

Brilliant stay in the heart of Port Douglas

I cannot recommend the Regal Port Douglas highly enough. The property is very centrally located on the main restaurant and shopping strip of Port Douglas. The pool on site is gorgeous and there is secure undercover parking. Our room (studio) was very generously sized with a two person spa bath and a large balcony. The room was modern and contained a fridge, toaster, kettle and tea/coffee making facilities. The late check-in procedure worked perfectly - there is a courtesy phone and safe at the front door. Also, the manager on reception was extremely friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Restaurants close their kitchens in Port Douglas around 8.30pm (even on Friday and Saturday), so make sure you dine early.

Holiday in the sun

We spent 10 notes at the Regal. There are lots of stairs and no lift. We had to get our own bags upstairs and down. There are 10 stairs just from street level to reception then a flight of 16 stairs to level 1 & if you stay on the top level as we did there is a second flight of 16 stairs to climb. The pool is disappointing small. Nice kitchen but only small fridge and microwave almost antique! Very expensive and @ around $270 a nite, for that kind of money I expected more / better. Not suited to a person with a disability or family with small children.

Couples weekend to relax

The rooms are very large and really well maintained. Having the spa on the balcony was great as was the ability to be able to shut it all off from the outside world. My only suggestion would be for the TV to be bigger. The room is so big that I could not see the TV from the lounge chair. I think reconfiguring the room would help.

Location Location Location!

Fantastic spot in walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Owners where very friendly. Only negative, no lifts. We had just been out on a fishing charter for 10 days so had a lot of bags etc to take up to the 3rd floor, pretty tiresome on foot.

Great couple escape

We just had 4 nights at the Regal and loved every minute of it! The location was brilliant, the rooms clean spacious and had everything you needed and the staff friendly and helpful. Had read that the pool was small but it was perfect!

Anniversary getaway

Such a perfect place to stay in Port Douglas, short walk to shops, supermarket and restaurants. We just had a little trouble where we couldn't contact the owners upon arrival as we arrived after 5pm ( they were informed in advance and was given instructions to ring them upon arrival to get the safe combination for our apartment keys), but its not their fault as all internet connections, phones and mobiles no access at all due to heavy storm and flood in Queensland. After 30mins, they were able to view us from their office. Sadly too, no telecast of the Australian Open finals and no internet connections, access to phones for 3 days. But overall, the owners are so nice and helpful in giving assistance to our daily tours. They were able to book as right away for our great barrier reef scuba diving experience even without internet. Thumbs up to them and for their wonderful place. Would love to stay there again. Such a relaxing anniversary getaway.

Great family fun

Great location! Our apartment was spacious and well equipped for our needs (two adults and two young children, aged 5 and 2). Location meant we could walk to everthing in Port. But hired a car to visit the Daintree, and used the complimentary undercover secure car park which was very handy. Sheryl and Bob (owners) were lovely and really helpful and knowledgable regarding local sites and tours and what would suit our needs (ie with little kids). We used the BBQ one night for dinner which was excellent - clean, easy to use and all the utensils, oil, paper towel etc were provided, making it an easy option for DIY dinner. The kids loved the pool and the jacuzzi, as well as the spa bath. They also really loved that the TV had ABC2! Many other places we have visited do not have digital freeview, so that was a huge bonus for those mornings when the kids woke up before 6am! All up, a lovely place and really helpful owners made it a fantastic holiday for all.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The apartments all have fridges and are equipped with crockery etc (even the studio apartments). There is a Foodworks just across the road, and a bigger Coles 5 mins walk down the street. With the fridge it is easy to do your own breakfast etc. Wit the BBQ in the complex free to use, very easy to keep costs down but still have a great holiday.

Convenient location

The Regal is a good option for travellers without their own transport as it is located in the centre of town within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach. Rooms are small but comfortable.
