Do your homework!

The hotel is hard to find, not enough signage. We could not find our room without going a long way back downstairs to check again on directions as did others arriving at the same time. (Forgot to tell us to go down some stairs and through a glass door!) Our room was advertised as having a marina view - being on the 3rd floor the view was totally obliterated by a huge palm tree. The restaurant was not open for dinner - only breakfast (which was very good, affordable and very well managed by one person!) Booking on the internet is not ideal. We could have paid a lower price at the hotel itself so it pays to ring them and also ask questions. Hopefully when the new management has the hotel up and running properly again it will be a much better experience.

Marina Quays

The service during check in was very poor. We had also requested a portacot in the room which we thought was going to be free if available. We were only told at check in that it would cost an extra $10 a night. We would have brought our own if we had known beforehand. We said we would get one from our parents house so we didn't have to pay for it. They had already put a portacot in the room, so the receptionist asked the cleaner to remove it. When we got to the room the cleaner said that it was hers from home and she had been told that a portacot was needed, however she didn't know that the hotel was going to charge a fee for it. She thought it was outrageous too. The buffet breakfast food was a bit dry and the dinner menu was boring. We asked for a non-smoking room, but the occupants in adjoining rooms were smoking on the balcony, so we couldn't have the doors open. Room hadn't been cleaned properly, with long hairs throughout the room and bathroom. Other than the staff member at check in, the rest of the staff were nice and friendly.

tired and outdated

tired outdated furnishings; complex is crying out for an update, a clean and a paint. plant boxes with dead plants; no ambience inside the hotel; receptionist was grumpy with bad attitude - you really do need a person front of house with a sunny, happy disposition. the complex lacked care. so much could be done to make this building the complex it once was. good location. expensive - $200 p night & didnt include breakfast so definitely not competitive with other hotels in the area offering so much more. we expected more value for our money. wont be back.

A quiet retreat!

A quiet location with very pleasant outlook to the marina. A little out of the way, though. Only breakfast available at the resort, so must be prepared to travel by car to dine at a restaurant. Also a very long walk from lifts to our room. Would be problematic for young children or anyone with mobility issues. Reasonably priced for the standard of the accommodation offered.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Recommend George's Paragon Restaurant at Sanctuary Cove for excellent service and reasonably priced seafood menu.

Not great. Not bad.

Ok. This should NOT be a 4 star resort. It might have been one, but that was probably when I was about 13 years younger...... Look, all is not bad. Awesome location (once we found it.. .bit of a hassle through roadworks), entrance looking good, friendly check in staff. Room looks clean, and has everything one needs. Slight error in our booking; yes, we did book for three, I told staff, once I headed back to reception to share with them we only had a Queen bed in our room (no 3011). But there should be a sofa-bed in there.... Well, there isn't. Oh, they put you in THAT room! THAT room was a disabled room, with all handles, railings and other trappings for the less mobile and able people. Not bad, though, as it was more spacious as well (to allow for wheel chairs, probably). A roller bed was swiftly organised with a smile, and all was well after that. Secure parking is free, which is excellent. Once settled in, we looked around the room, and could not find any reason why this is listed as a 4-star place. Orange tiles on the floor throughout, older furniture, cheapish looking furnishings, and a fair bit of noise coming through the door. If my assessment is worth anything, it's no more than 3 stars, and 3 stars in need of some serious polishing up! The bed is hard and sort of comfortable. You know, it's really not a bad place, and has loads of potential. It looks so '80s and '90s, though! Breakfast buffet in the morning is cheap ($15 for full cooked, $10 for continental) and ordinary. The basics are there, and that's it. It's been a while since I saw coffee jugs on a heater element! I can be brief. From a -supposedly- 4 star I expect so much more than this.We only stayed one night, which was a saving grace. If this would have been a holiday for 5 nights or more, I would have been quite disappointed.... And I am quite easily pleased.

Great Hotel & location

The only fault was that there was no hand-basin or bath plugs, otherwise all was excellent.
