Cominos House hotels
Cominos House is a historic home, museum, and events venue about three kilometres north of the city centre of Cairns in Far North Queensland. The Cominos House was built in 1877 and first belonged to Alfred and Annie Street, who owned the property for 45 years. The house is a great example of a queenslander, a style of wooden house designed for the hot and humid climate of this part of Australia. George Cominos, a Greek immigrant, bought the house in 1927. Cominos ran a successful café, Cominos Café, which was a legendary social hub of Cairns for several decades.
