South Bank hotels
South Bank is an alluring neighbourhood of Brisbane that lies on the shore of the Brisbane River, in Queensland, Australia. This area is one of the most-visited areas of Queensland, largely due to the presence of the South Bank Parklands,a recreational paradise built for the World Expo of 1988. The area draws visitors with attractions such as the Queensland Conservatorium, a concert hall featuring world-class musicians; the Streets Beach, an incredible man-made beach along the river; the beautiful Grand Arbour, a kilometre-long walkway covered with flowers. Downtown, Grey Street and Little Stanley Street feature fine restaurants, boutiques, cinemas and five-star hotels.
- Meditate along the South Bank riverfront at the Nepal Peace Pagoda, an architectural work of art from the World Expo featuring a sacred statue of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddhist deity of compassion.
- Catch award-winning and thought-provoking international films at the popular South Bank Cinema on Grey Street.
- Expand your worldview with contemporary Asian-Pacific art at Brisbane’s Queensland Museum of Modern Art, the largest museum in Australia.
South Bank is easy to accessible by a wide variety of public transport options from all over Brisbane and Queensland. Brisbane Translink offers ferry, bus and train services into the neighbourhood. CityCat, a fleet of ultramodern catamarans named for Aboriginal towns, transports cars across the Brisbane River at South Bank. Commuter ferries called City ferries also cruise the river around South Bank with close and more frequent stops. Finally, two bus and train stations serve the South Bank Parklands, dropping visitors off right near the action.
