Dining

Mayu
For the Anangu people flavour is defined by the land. The Hotel's premier dining experience, Mayu takes the traditional and ancient Pitjantjatjara name for flavour and serves up a truly innovative and modern a la carte menu. The finest ingredients are transformed into inspired dishes before being served with your choice of Australia's foremost wines.
Walpa Lobby Bar
For centuries travel has been defined by the wind. Taking on the Pitjantjatjara name for wind, Walpa Lobby Bar instead provides a sense that your journey is complete - a sense of arrival. A relaxed setting for coffee and cake, casual lunch or dinner, a pre-dinner drink or night cap after a sunset tour, Walpa Lobby Bar is contemporary and welcoming.
Ilkari Restaurant
Ilkari takes its name from the local Pitjantjatjara word for sky. Ilkari establishes its dining philosophy in the natural flavours of the finest produce available under the Australian sun. This reward comes to life with the addition of international flavours prepared with a sense of theatre at live cooking stations.

A personalised breakfast experience begins with an international menu and is completed by an egg and pancake station that allows the guest to define their very own signature dish. From delicate European inspired pastries to steaming Asian soups, an Ilkari breakfast is the perfect beginning to the day.

Ilkari continues to offer a tantalising menu of international flavours through lunch and dinner. An array of salads, vegetables, antipasto delights, pastas, Asian favourites, roasts and a grill selection abound with our chef's signature dishes enlivened by Indigenous flavours.

Excellent location

Excellent hotel, the restaurants were great but the highlight was the staff, they were absolutely fantastic. They made our trip worthwhile. They were friendly, gave excellent service and just couldn't do enough for you. We had a room with a terrace which was a waste of money as it was too hot to sit outside. The Aircon for this supposedly 5 star hotel was the worst ever. Apart from that it was great. Flo

Will be lovely after the renovations finish

Lovely hotel, spacious rooms, renovations happening while we were there so dining room closed and workmen and noise about during the day. Pleasant 5 min walk to town square for restaurants and shopping. Will be a true oasis in the desert once the renos are finished.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Outback BBQ was a very pleasant experience. You buy your meat and cook it yourself. Well stocked salad bar included. Sit at long community tables to eat. Very friendly.

better than average

Although they are undergoing renovations and there seemed to be no other guests, it was quite comfortable. Room was large and well appointed. Only disappointment was the costs and variety of food.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time there.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Everything was excellent and the service from check-in to check-out was extremely friendly. What impressed me was the friendliness of Staff wherever we went. They greeted us and checked on any needs we had....not often one finds that at hotels. It was my second visit and I will definitely return and definitely stay at Sails in the Desert.

Everything is very good. The

Everything is very good. The only thing is a bit pricey. Everyone was friendy and service was great. We had brekky and all were delicious. The room is spacious and comfortable. The hotel is simple and modern design, I liked it. There were many bugs in room I encountered but maybe any hotel in Uluru had it. Plus they put a note about bugs so it was a good warning.

The Kuniya restaurant food was outstanding as well as the impeccable service there. My bed and linen were beautiful with comfy pillows. Bath products were delightfully fresh and unlike any elsewhere I had been. I loved the close proximity to shopping centre and the incorporated giftshop and art gallery. The shuttle service and tour operators were great. I would stay there again.

We have to wait 1hour before having a room for 3 people at 5pm. Everything in a room for only 2 people during all the stay. Not any help for luggages. Service like in a 3star hotel.
