Couple retreat

We were not told that parking in the hotel carpark would cost us an extra $25 a night resulting in an extra $125. It came as a shock when the final bill was presented and left a sour taste on what was an overall positive experience. As a result we will be looking elsewhere next time!

OK stay

Staff were great but room was a bit old & tired. Felt like a swim but forgot there was no pool. Good view of Harbour Bridge. Ok for a quick Sydney stay when you really just need a relatively central place to sleep.

Checking out Horror

-Upon checking out, I was treated in a rude and disrespectful manner by one of the front desk staff, Rajan. I had booked 3 rooms for my family, and awaiting my cash deposit of $300 ($100 for each room). He told me to wait and the lobby, with not a smile nor a polite tone. He had taken the keys, but when I showed the receipt, he replied curtly, 'No need. Keep that.' -Sitting in the lobby, I waited impatiently as our pre-booked family cab was already waiting outside (headed to the airport). Rajan continued to serve another customers and completely ignored me. -After waiting about 15 minutes, I headed to the front desk and approached another staff member, a lady, and she immediately proceeded to give back my deposit. However, she gave me the wrong amount- $100. I showed her the receipt to show that I have booked 3 rooms, therefore I should get back the $300 ($100 for each room) that I initially deposited when I checked in. She was very adamant about the amount and insisted she was correct. -Exasperated, I showed her the receipt again, clarifying that I had booked and paid for 3 rooms, not one! She then asked me for the rooms numbers, when it was already stated very clearly on the receipt. Wanting to shove the receipt in her face, I didn't, but instead I politely indicated and pointed at the room numbers on the receipt. She just held the receipt, gave me a confused look, and then turned around to face the other staff member, Rajan (the previous staff who told me to 'just sit and wait there'). -Rajan gave me an icy look, and scolded, 'I asked you to wait, not to go to her'. I looked at him furiously as he examined the receipt again, wasting my time. By now, our cab had been waiting for 20 minutes. My Dad showed up to ask me why I was taking so long. Finally, he gave me back the $300. He was extremely rude. He could have said something like, 'Sorry for the long wait, here you go'. Instead, he just gave it back wordlessly, and when quizzed by my Dad, he just said, 'This is company policy. We have to check the rooms to see if they are okay. Of course, that takes about 15-20 minutes'. -The terrible customer service ruined my stay at the hotel. I almost felt like Rajan deliberately delayed us because there was no reason to take such a long time for 'inspection' of the rooms, as we had not requested for a mini-fridge in all the rooms. Did he think we were going to steal something from the hotel? Did he look down on us because we were dressed casually? Whatever his opinions were, that was no way to treat a customer.

Great inner city stay

This hotel is a very short walk from Hyde Park and the central shopping district, also not far to walk up Crown St and into Oxford St. Lovely Italian restaurants not far away by walking up Crown St. Paddington markets great to visit on a Saturday. My room was very clean with fantastic views over the city. I wouldn't stay here if I needed to sleep in however. The curtain only framed the window, it didn't pull across. it was difficult to sleep well with the city lights, and then of course I woke up at first light with nothing to block out the sun in the morning.

Great view

We spent 4 nights on 17th floor which provided us with good views of the harbour, the bridge and the CBD. The room was most comfortable and large with 2 double beds. The hotel is located on the city's fringe and is only a 10-15 minute walk down William street to the city centre. At the city centre on George Street there is a free bus service (555) which takes you down to circular Quay. Directly opposite the hotel is the Strand Hotel. A good place for a cheap and cheerful meal and drinks.
