Very enjoyable weekend. Stayed at the Intercontinental for the Blackmore Bridge Run with my sister. All the staffs at the hotel were pleasant and helpful. Received complimentary wifi and late check out for my IHG membership even though I did not book directly with hotel.

When hitting the Rocks is a good thing

A last minute booking at the Intercontinental I was really impressed from the moment my taxi arrived. The hotel is based round an old building with lots of character with tasteful modern additions including the tower with the bedrooms. Common areas are impressive and careful thought has been given to the conversion. The central bar area is wonderfully done with lots of original features kept. Made use of the facilities including the rooftop gym & swimming pool and the views are impressive. Some rooms view the Harbour Bridge & Opera House but even the city views on the other side are good Location is second to none with Circular Quay & the Rocks area a five minute walk away making it a great base for a visitor. My weekend was made and my estimation of the hotel was raised when I realised that the French National Rugby team were staying there - as my reason for being in Sydney was to watch the game. Full marks

Fabulous stay in a luxury suite

We booked a suite, but got upgraded to a higher-quality suite, so our stay probably wasn't typical. Everything was fantastic - great service, great quality, and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on.

Overpriced

A grand hotel in a fantastic location. However, the rooms are highly priced for what they offer (eg very small bathroom with shower-over-bath and shower curtain). ... and you just keep paying ... $7 for a packet of crisps or a bottle of water. At the prices being charged, a complementary biscuit or bottle of water would be a nice touch! The waiters need customer service training. On 3 occasions we had to get up and find someone to take our order - after waiting a significant time. Not up to the standard of other 5-star city hotels.

Superb

We were met by a very friendly front desk staff member who offered to check us into our room 4 hours early which was much appreciated. We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was perfectly positioned for our first night at the Opera House and the second night for dinner on the harbour, all within a short walk. Our room was very comfortable with a wonderful view.

Perfect hotel perfect location

Conveniently located 2 mins walk to Circular Quay and Sydney harbour. Rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel incl robes, slippers, iron and ironing board. There was a lovely couch in the room and also a window seat to sit and look at the beautiful view of Harbour Bridge and Opera house. The room and hotel was clean and tidy there was even a large desk in the room. The pillows were the most comfortable I've slept on at a hotel and you can choose the pillow type you require from the pillow menu. The breakfast in cafe opera was amazing and possibly the best buffet breakfast I've had at a hotel, can not recommend the breakfast highly enough. The only disappointment for me was that I had done a lot of research into a hotel to choose for our combined birthday and wedding anniversary weekend and I had read many reviews of others getting wine and chocolates when they stayed for a special occasion and even though I had informed the hotel and they were aware as the checkin staff member asked about our anniversary we were not given any special bonus.
