Australian Museum hotels
The Australian Museum in Sydney is the oldest museum in Australia and has long been a leader in the fields of natural history and anthropology. Located on College Street in the heart of Sydney's central business district, the Australian Museum was founded by Earl Bathurst in 1827. Since then the museum has celebrated Australian culture, presenting such exhibits as the Indigenous Australia Exhibition, an exhibit commemorating the pre-colonial, indigenous cultures of Australia. The extended complex of the museum’s beautiful sandstone buildings features an open architecture, housing exhibits on everything from Australia's birds and insects to dinosaurs.
- Walk through the sparkling Mineral Collections exhibit of the Australian Museum, where a colourful array of mineral specimens from Sydney and around the world is on display for curious enthusiasts.
- Learn about the environment at the Australian Museum on the child-friendly Kid's Island, where interactive displays will delight both children and adults.
- See what holds together the bodies of mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and insects at the Skeltons: Framework for Survival exhibit, an intriguing, educational tour through various bodies.
Located near Hyde Park, the Australian Museum is easy to reach using a variety of transportation methods. Conveniently, The Australian Museum is a stop along the free Hop-On Hop-Off bus route. Those travelling by foot will be happy to know the museum is just a seven-minute walk from Sydney’s city centre. To get to the museum by train, get off at the Museum, St James, or Town Hall stops.
