Great location

I was in Penrith to go to a football game at Pepper Stadium so the location was perfect. Staff were friendly, check in and out was efficient and the room was comfortable. The only problem was with the breakfast. It was very basic with the only coffee on offer being instant coffee - something I have not seen for a while.

Old and tired

We were in Penrith to visit a very I'll friend and meet with overseas friends. The hotel was a disappointment in that it is old and tired, is far too expensive for what it offers and can be very noisy. No WiFi in the rooms unless you pay $9.95 per hour and upwards, even cheap places offer better! You need to sit in the lobby for free WiFi, totally unacceptable in such a costly hotel. It becomes quite obvious that everything here is about the rugby team, the Panthers and their complex, and how and where to spend your money. Not having a restaurant is not good. The bar is totally hit and miss, staff not having a clue about what they have or how to serve them when they have. The hotel has a few fast food outlets opposite it, and on Friday and Saturday nights can be very noisy and very busy, and if you like breakfast then it's either fast food or a very expensive buffet etc in the Panthers complex. I really would not bother with this one again.

A very disappointing experience

How disappointing, where do you we start? This hotel is so outdated it should be demolished. The drains in the bathrooms had a horrible stench coming from them,we had to cover them up. The noisiest room I've ever stayed in,not much sleep. The breakfast was disgraceful,$34 dollars for 1 adult and a child. My son eats anything, but couldn't stomach the pre-maid eggs.We asked for coffee, and it came as we were leaving?

Worst hotel room ever

No wifi, no tv, bad reception, outdated room. I didn't see a mini bar.. A bar of chocolate and a Pringles left on table means a mini bar ?

Lets the Mercure name down

For anyone still trying to find this place, it's right next to Penrith Panthers. No visible signage and a vague address made it tricky to find. Don't be sucked in by the suave exterior and uppetty staff. A standard queen room gets you cobwebs, plywood furniture, a bathroom with cracks and peeling paint, and a TV without FTA digital channels. Essentially, a tolerable room with a bed and a view of a shed.

A few things need replacing

The last time I stayed here, I just booked the standard room so this time I paid extra to have the Deluxe King thinking about a bigger bed, larger room and better amenities. It had the King bed and included a little courtyard which was look upon by the whole hotel (ground floor, room 115) but that was about it for the extra money. It's an ok hotel but I do have a few complaints which I hope they'll take on-board, because it's the little things that count. The bed is a bit hard ... not just firm, but hard. I think the mattresses need replacing. The towels are scratchie. You expect soft and fluffy in a hotel so these also need replacing. The air conditioner is **noisy** ... so noisy. Fix these few things, and I think it will be worth the money to stay here.
