Reasonable overnight getaway

Came to Newcastle as a quick getaway with a friend. Mostly we came to catch a play at Civic Theatre (opposite the train station and bus stop) which is just under 10 minutes walk from here so excellent location to check out the area. This was also the cheapest option at the time with this vicinity with a twin share option but not cheap compared to other options I've had before. We arrived a little early for check in and were offered some complimentary sparkling - a nice, welcoming gesture. Staff at the front desk was very helpful with helping us and giving advice on great places to eat in the area - really helpful for this trip. They also helped with a request for herbal tea when we were back so they are very good. Air-conditioning is great. As are complimentary tea and coffee facilities. Cordial is also available freely. Free shampoo, conditioner and shower gel is also great. Very generous shower with hand-held option, adjustable, convenient and great. Biggest drawback was the room we were in was on 1st floor, just off to the lobby and we were woken up several times at night by the staff door opening and slamming (maybe a soft door-closer would help?) and people chatting in the corridors. It is also very loud when anyone next door takes a shower which happened at about 2am and sounded like a jackhammer going off. Otherwise the location of the hotel was great, in a quiet area away from restaurants and clubs. The fridge emitted a low level of noise as well. One of us was bitten badly by a mosquito buzzing at night as the window opened (great natural lighting but unfortunately no fly screen) and again first floor location. Poor sleep quality for an overnight stay. The room was also a little dusty along the railings and some appliances but that is a minor consideration. Overall, would recommend to a friend for an overnighter as a cheap option to see the sights - maybe request a second level room. Friendly staff helped make the trip fun.

Quick business stay

Nice size room with weird looking bathroom facility, modular looking. Had to push door handle up to get into the room, which I finally worked out, thought door card was faulty so went to reception, got another but then figured out problem was to push handle up. Reception could have mentioned this. I went to the restaurant down stairs to eat. I waited for ages just to have a glass of water and be served. Ended up going to KFC next door.

Good hotel, handy to transport

This hotel is excellent for a trip to Newcastle. It is very handy to Wickham railway station (but that advantage will cease when the idiots close the railway into Newcastle at the end of December). Rooms are a nice size and are very comfortable. Breakfast is available.
