Forbes is a town of about 7,000 people in the state of New South Wales that is home to a number of historical locations and some excellent Forbes NSW hotels. The town is found on the banks of the Lachlan River and is about 380km west of Sydney, making it easily accessible for those who are visiting the major centre.
People book accommodation in Forbes because of its history as a gold mining town. The area was actually home to the largest gold robbery in the country's history, when Ben Hall and his gang stole 77 kg of gold from the neighbouring town of Eugowra. Hall was shot dead three years later, in 1865, and the incident is still a major part of the town's history.
Many of the buildings from the town's past still stand, including the Court House and the Lands Office. Visitors can have a look around this architecture from days gone by and read the stories associated with these infamous outlaws.
Forbes is also known for its hot weather, especially between November and March. It does cool down quite a bit between June and August. Book now with free HotelClub membership to enjoy our exclusive offers for our members.
