Near the peak of the Blue Mountains is the quiet town of Blackheath. Situated more than a thousand metres above sea level, the town’s name was derived from the colour of the abundant native shrubbery found within the area. The sight of the majestic Blue Mountains and some of the natural attractions in Blackheath (such as the beautiful flowering plants during springtime and powerful waterfalls surrounding the area), are breathtaking. Aside from having a beautiful environment, this small town also produces high-quality crops, making it possible for restaurants and nearby café’s to serve fresh, delectable menus.
- Go for a new and adventurous experience in Blackheath by going bushwalking around the Evans Lookout Road to see the beautiful panoramic view of this quiet town in the Blue Mountains.
- Take a dip when staying at the Blue Mountains by going to the swimming pools in Blackheath located conveniently near the Caravan Park in Prince Edward Street.
- Watch full blooms of dainty azaleas and colourful rhododendrons at the highly maintained Campbell Rhododendron Gardens.
Getting to the Blackheath in the Blue Mountains is fairly easy when driving by car since it is very accessible via the Great Western Highway. Those coming in from Sydney need only follow road signs going to Parramatta, and those taking the route in Strathfield will find themselves going straight to the Blue Mountains. In contrast to the very plain Great Western Highway route, tourists coming in from the west need only travel from Lithgow straight to Hartley. From Hartley, tourists will get a glimpse of the scenic view in Victoria Pass before finally arriving in Blackheath.
