World’s Largest Fair: LA County Fair
It is said about Los Angeles that it is the city where you just cannot get bored. This is a fact, considering that Los Angeles is also the home for the largest fair in the world. LA County Fair opened October 17, 1922 and since then more than one million people visit these amazing 543 acres of pure fun, each year.

If you love fairs, then you absolutely have to check LA County Fair on your list. The event is held near LA, in the city of Pomona, California, but since the hotels in this city might get pretty crowded during the fair, you can always look out for other hotels in Los Angeles. Moreover, once you get in Pomona, you simply cannot miss the fair: just follow all the directional signs to the Fairplex.

This year’s edition will take place between September 5 – October 4. The LA County Fair is closed during Mondays and Tuesdays. If you want to save some cash, make sure you visit the fair during weekdays. The prices are $5 cheaper from Wednesday to Friday. Also, pay attention to the special discounts, if you’re part of a group that has more than 20 members.

More than 70 thrill rides and about 40 games of skill, popcorn, corn dogs, hot dogs, onion rings and other goodies can be found in the largest U.S. carnival. Not to mention the 50 meters high wheel, La Grande Wheel. Higher than the Statue of Liberty, it can carry up to 288 visitors at one time. This is just a part of the fair – Carnival Midway.

Other attractions include visiting the Jurassic era, a circus, a heritage park, animal exhibitions, medieval tournaments, parades and pirate adventures. The Fair is also the place for California’s finest competitions in olive oil, dairy, commercial beer, wine & spirits, culinary styles and tapestry.

If you’re thinking just to stop by, think again. There are so many things to see, so many souvenirs to be bought and so many rides to be tried that you should reserve at least two days for visiting this wonderful fair.
