Best Nightclubs in Asia

Other than at the height of the Mughal Empire perhaps, there has never been a better time to party in Asia. From Makati to Mumbai, nightclubs are swankier and more sophisticated than ever and are starting to approach, if not eclipse, counterparts in the likes of New York City, Miami and London. With that, here are ten places where we like to raise our hands in the air and wave them all around like we just don’t care.

Dragon-i, Hong Kong
The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central
Central’s branché boîte is an indelible staple of Hong Kong’s nocturnal scene. Dragon-i is a spot where A-listers, VIPs and beautiful people gather.
Where to stay: Ovolo 2 Arbuthnot Road, Central
Hype, Mumbai
Atria, The Millennium Mall, R1, 4th Floor, Dr Annie Beasant Road, Worli
Upscale Bollywood is how best to describe the vibe of Hype, a luxe pioneer of the Mumbai nightlife scene. Picture it: more than 650 m2 of sleekness, a host of international DJs and the odd star/starlet.
Where to stay: Trident Bandra Kurla Mumbai Hotel
Bed Supperclub, Bangkok
26 Soi Sukhumvit 11, Sukhumvit Road, Klongtoey-nua, Wattana
Restaurant, stage, gallery, club – Bed Supperclub is insanely eclectic. The place looks like a performance art installation and hosts an absurd array of theme nights.
Where to stay: Ariyasomvilla & Spa Bangkok
M1nt, Shanghai
318 Fuzhou Lu
Shanghai is rife with choice and presents a kaleidoscope of nightlife spots for every taste and peccadillo. M1nt is the Rolls-Royce of the club scene, with annual membership in the 6,500RMB/person range.
Where to stay: The Peninsula Shanghai Hotel
Zouk, Singapore
17 Jiak Kim Street
Singapore’s plush bar and club-scape has hit a fever pitch of late. Zouk is one of the city-state’s musts and a den of the avant-garde.
Where to stay: The Quincy Hotel By Far East Hospitality Singapore
Ku Dé Ta, Bali
Jalan Hotel The Oberoi, Bali, Indonesia
Ku Dé Ta’s brand extends way beyond the borders of Indonesia’s premier holiday island but when in Bali, be sure to pay the gorgeous bar a visit.
Where to stay: The Oberoi Bali Hotel
Q Bar, Ho Chi Minh City
7 Cong Truong Lam Son
Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1′s Q Bar has a classy al fresco space that spills inside after dark. Hip and trendy in the middle of old Saigon.
Where to stay: Hotel Nikko Saigon
Club 99, Kuala Lumpur
28, Jalan Kia Peng
The happy hour set loves Club 99 but the 400-seat KL hot spot kicks into turbo drive late.
Where to stay: Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Womb, Tokyo
2-16 Maruyamacho, Shibuya-ku
Shibuya ward is a good place to get nuts in Tokyo, with no better party hub than Womb. The club spares no expense in the décor and sound system department and draws the megalopolis’ scenesters and cool kids.
Where to stay: Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo At Marunouchi
Pangaea, Singapore
Marina Bay Sands (Crystal Pavillion South), 2 Bayfront Ave
No nightlife tour of Asia is complete anymore without a foray to the Marina Bay Sands. You have choices in the casino resort par excellence but Pangaea takes it up a notch (and mints more profits than any other club in the world at the moment).
Where to stay: Marina Bay Sands Singapore Hotel
