5 Things You Should Do in Laos

As many other Asian countries, when visiting Laos, the best way to see the country is by traveling on ground. The country is filled with amazing sights and with unique experiences for all its visitors. Here are five of the things you should not miss if you’re planning to visit one of the most beautiful countries of Asia.

5. Tribe Trekking in Luang Nam Tha
Luang Nam Tha is a region situated in the Northern mountainous Laos and is the top destination for all those who like to make sport while enjoying the natural wonders of the area. Mountain biking, kayaking and rafting are just some activities one can try here. But the most exciting things you can do here is trekking through the intact forests and getting to visit the genuine traditional tribes.

4. Visit the Plain of Jars
Up to 400 sites containing dozens of sandstone, granite, conglomerate and calcified coral jars can be found in this area that spreads all the way to Thailand and India. The sites follow what seemed to be a trade route, but the jars cannot represent the object of a commercial agreement since they weigh up to 13 tonnes and range from 1 to 3 meters. There are many mysteries regarding their origin.

3. Get wet at the Kuang Si Falls
Just 18 miles outside the quiet Luang Prabang town, you can find one of the most popular cascades in Laos. The main cascade measures almost 180 feet, but there are many more small cascades (10-15 feet), each one having delightful blue-turquoise pools.

2. Buy something from The Luang Prabang Night Market
One of the biggest and most extensive collection of handicrafts in the country can be found in Luang Prabang. Puppets, silks, lamps, umbrellas, clothes, accessories, ceramics, paintings, coffee and tea – you can find them all here. It is the perfect place to meet the creativity and the hospitality of the locals.

1. Eat some laap after visiting Vientiane
The capital city of Laos is worth visiting for its palaces, French mansions and Buddhist temples. Besides the French restaurants, you can find here the best Lao food dishes. So, after walking around the streets of this city, make sure you taste a traditional laap, a spicy mixture of marinated meat (sometimes raw fish), with herbs, greens and spices.
