Family atmosphere with outstanding food and selection of wines. Comfortable room, nothing special. Good location North of York.

Very friendly,helpful staff. We stayed in a "superior" room and it was difficult to understand what was superior about it. While perfectly comfortable and equipped with the usual toiletries, and excellent bath sheets, it lacked a shelf in the bathroom and there were no tooth mugs. We were disappointed to find that the restaurant offered a set three course dinner. We chose to eat in the bistro and found the food very good.

This was one of the best experiences we have had in many years. Staff gave every appearance of being interested in guests, making us feel very welcome. Food and service excellent. Rates very reasonable. Will return.

An excellent hotel - welcome was warm and room was comfortable. Dinner in the Cricketer's Bar was excellent value and the food delicious. Don't miss the cooked Yorkshire breakfast - well worth getting up for. About 25 minutes outside York in the countryside near Castle Howard - but much more relaxing than staying in the Centre & all the better for it.
