West End Studios Guest Reviews
Cheap and basic hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Take good ear plugs -- some guests were really noisy during the night when I stayed there. Near Metro and therefore easy to get into Midtown or Downtown.

Placing it in the "Hostel " category place the Hotel in the super economy class but it does not mean that proper air conditioning and cupboards/cloath racks should not be available The shared bathrooms however was clean

Pretty basic place. plenty of amenities around and access to subway. showers/bathroom not very good. either blocked or only hot water out of the shower head

There was no where to hang or put my clothes. I had to kill a cockroach on the wall the first night. The bed and pillows were lumpy. I had a private room, but was sharing the bathroom with the room next door that had 6 bunk beds of men, not to mention other quests down the hall. To use the bathroom to take a shower required I get up 5 am and it was filthy. The low price and location was not worth staying in such horrible lodging! My recommendation is not to stay there under any circumstances.

The room looked absolutely horrible. The shared bathrooms were not as bad as I imagined. Having automated locker service and washer dryer in the basement is nice. I would probably stay here again just because it's on manhattan and the bathrooms are bearable. For first time NY visitors, definitely take the subway here. The A line goes from JFK all the way to within a few blocks from this place (2 blocks if non-express)
