The hotel is very central/walking distance to Central Park for morning exercises, to walk to Times Square for an evening performance and all the sightseeing, shopping and eating you want to do in between. The double room we booked ended up being a two-roomed two-double bed, two bathroom suite - Bonus!

Great location for a tourist. It's close to most attractions. The room was a little bit dusty, other than that, it was worth the money we paid for.

My husband and I recently married and saved up for a weekend trip to NYC. The Wellington is in the perfect location for people wanting to see all the major sights. The hotel itself is slightly dated, but for the price it is great! Our room had a view of Central Park from one window and Time Square from the other. The staff is very polite and helpful. We definitely recommend!

My daughter and I stayed here for the three days and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were great! They were helpful and so polite and just genuinely nice. The rooms were small but clean and attractive. Location was great. Right across the street from Carmine's Deli. There is a cafe (The Park Cafe) beside the hotel (you can actually enter through a side entrance in the hotel). They had great, resonably price food with very friendly wait staff. You could sit and watch the carraige rides go by from Central Park. I would definitely stay here again.

FANTASTICOS !!! Y el zumo natutal 100% de naranja exprimida.

The Wellington was not a fancy hotel but a very good one and an excellent bargain. The room was nice and clean, but very small. But then all the rooms in New York are small. The room was way too hot. Had to sleep with the windows open in January. The Park restaurant downstairs was the best bargain in town for breakfast. The best thing about the Wellington was the location. It was excellent, one block from Broadway, a few blocks from Times Square, 3 blocks from Central Park and a few blocks from Fifth Avenue. It was right in the middle of everything!

As noted by many others, the location of this hotel is fantastic. It's a quick walk to Times Square in one direction or Central Park in the other, and it's right next to a subway stop with N, Q & R-train access (the N takes you to the bus to LaGuardia, for those looking to save $ on transit between the airport & midtown). For sustenance nearby, there are several delicious-pastry-selling shops on the same street. There's a Ray's Pizza, which had some pretty great slices, as well as the Carnegie Deli. Nearby, you can also find the Halal Guys, which is the best food cart for mediterranean food ever (or at least out of the three or four we tried). We got the lamb over rice, and it was AMAZING. And for Starbucks addicts like myself, there's one just across the street to set you off on the right foot in the morning. As for the hotel itself, the room was small (and the bathroom was tiny), but everything was comfortable and clean. The view was non-existent, but that's luck of the draw, and I wasn't there to look out the window anyway. I had some trouble figuring out the heater, which led to me spending the first night shivering away, but once I found the dial (it was underneath a panel that lifts up on the left of what looked like a fairly old unit, but I couldn't tell how to pry it up at first) it did a fine job heating the place up. My only complaint is that the heater (I assume) made some CRAZY noises at night. It didn't seem to be tied to it kicking on or off, so it's possible it was coming from pipes or even other rooms, but it was quite loud -- enough to wake me up (though I am admittedly a fairly light sleeper). I didn't bother asking about it, so it's possible they could have fixed it or at least explained it given the opportunity. The service was fine, nothing special and nothing terrible, pretty typical of what I'd imagine you get in New York. All in all, if you're on a budget, I'd definitely recommend this place. I'd certainly consider staying here again.

Hotel fab location and staff really helpful day and night- bit dated decor but rooms clean - only criticism would be that the sheets and bedding is due for renewal as musty stored type smell ! best shower I have ever had and have stated in some five star plus hotels that have never matched this one ! Staff were really helpful so overall a great experience thank you wellington and team

The Wellington is a great old hotel in a wonderful location! It's busy and vibrant with tour groups and families, so not the palce for a quiet get-a-way. Rooms are spacious and clean - the staff friendly and helpful. It's MY New York hotel of choice.

i read some not-so-hot reviews for the wellington and was expecting a lot worse experience than i actually got. it is true that the hotel needs a little tlc. there were chips/cracks in the paint and the doors, the room was a bit cold and the bathtub didn't drain that well. but our room was clean, as was the bathroom, and the bed was comfy and clean and the blankets and sheets were warm and cozy. the rooms are small, but hey it's new york and space is limited and expensive. the location is perfection. 10 streets up from times square, two down from central park and one over from broadway. it doesn't get much better. there's a subway station immediately beside the hotel that connects with 4 lines and is only 2 stops from times sqaure if you really don't feel like walking it. soho is about a five minute trip via the yellow N line toward brooklyn. we arrived right at 3 o'clock checkin and were helped within 5 minutes and it only took about a minute to checkin. the staff were friendly and helpful and it never seemed a burden to bother them. if the pricing remains the same, i'd definitely stay at the wellington again :)

This was my first visit to New York & a special one to commemorate reaching my 50th birthday! Prior to travel both I & my GF had called to confirm our reservation as a room not facing the street & we also requested a mini fridge,as the web page informs that option is available. On checking in & walking through the door, you guessed it, our room was on the street & did not have a fridge? When we spoke with the front desk we were advised that a mini fridge was only available for 'medical' purposes? We were not given much hope of receiving what we thought we had booked, even when discussing our case with the manager? However, after registering my disappointment we were contacted the next morning with the offer of an alternative room. On inspection the new room was not only as originally requested but larger & a lot more comfortable in general. Thank you! This being our only problem I would recommend The Wellington without a doubt. Let's face it, there is so much to do in NY, especially at Christmas time as this was, that you are not in your room for too long anyway? The hotel does not have it's own formal restaurant but utilises an adjacent diner which we used several times for convenience & the food was always 'surprisingly' good. Located in between Central Park & Times Square (where's the square?) & directly opposite a Starbucks this was perfect for us. The hotel staff were friendly, the room clean & a beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby for some great photos. A truly memorable experience & I thank The Wellington for it's part.

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. It is very deceiving in that when you walk into the lobby, it is very nice and beautiful. However, the room we were given left much to be desired. I would not recommend staying in this hotel even if it is a good location. There was a strange thumping noise throughout most of the night, the shades would not close, the bedspreads were old and torn, the shower pressure was so hard that it literally hurt to stand under the water. As soon as I stepped onto the elevator I had a sinking feeling because it was a tiny little box. When we stepped off the elevator, my blood pressure was starting to go up. It looked like we were going down a back service hall. I did not feel safe in this hotel because I traveled with my daughter and her friend (2 children). We ended up leaving this hotel to stay in another. They would not give back any of the money that I paid. I will never make the mistake of paying for a hotel that I know nothing about again.

We are from South Africa and stayed there in July and now again in Dec. It is a fantastic location and we had 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms for the three of us at a very good price. Next time we go to New York, we will definitely stay there again

We were extremely pleased with our trip to New York for New Years. The Wellington Hotel gets all "A's". Great location, and great stay. Cute little diner attached with great service. Close to 30 Rock plaza, Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, Times Square, FAO Schwartz, all the great shops on 5th avenue. Staff very helpful, hotel room view of central park was great. The room was a little small but who cares? How long are you really in it? We loved it. If you don't like this stay then no one can please you. Room 2445...we'll be back.

Not sure if this is true with all rooms, but in our room, whenever the neighbors turned on their water (sink, toilet, shower, bath), it sounded like a jackhammer for the first few minutes. Luckily the noise went away eventually. We could have asked for a different room, I suppose. Be sure to negotiate with the hotel not to short change guests with travel packages, as I could see they catered more to larger and foreign travel groups.
