We had a great experience in this hotel the location is awesome right in the middle of everything. We were able to walk everywhere from the Zoo to the Navy Pier, Maginficent Mile and more. A bit far form O'Hare but we took the metro and made it there in about an hour and fifteen minutes. The room was small but very well kept and clean, had a flat screenTV, and radio with Ipod dock which was useful to charge my phone at night. The bathroom was clean as well which is always a good thing based on previous hotel experiences. We did not use any of the amenities so can't really comment on that.

the hotel has an excellent ubicaion near major attractions, restaurants, theaters, etc. it is a clean hotel with good service makes up for its lack of restaurants with his Excellency location The only thing in my view opunto must improve is his gym, and several equipment (treadmills) were out of service and WIRELESS internet because it is very slow. Also suggest greater attention to the carpet in the hallways because several were stained The concierges gave very good recommendations for restaurants and events

nice hotel with friendly staff. Wish they had a coffee maker in the room. Would have liked a bathtub in the room & not just a shower.

Can i be sued for expressing my opinion? I booked in advance based on advertising and without previous experience in this hotel. The room was clean, to be sure and the valet a parking attendants were very helpful, however overall, the hotel was a joke played on me!! perhaps the publicized price was high, but not out of line but if you want a complimentary cup of coffee, be prepared to pay $4, or walk 4 blocks to the 7-11. If you feel like a little fresh air and decide to walk on 1 Jan with an outside air temp of 15F and a 20 MPH wind, better take along a thermos because the hotel does not offer a microwave in their micro-sized rooms.. No problem? just try to ask a hotel attendant to microwave it for you, first they'll tell they are not authorized, ( or trained?) then, it can cost you a buck a cup (gratuity, in case management is listening) and still be cold... BUT, the salvation is a wet bar in your room... and the prices are reasonable there, ie $6.75 for a pack of snack crackers..the fact that the prices are not marked is, or should be, of no concern unless you have a kid or two with a sweet tooth, (they are not even identified more than "non alcoholic item from wet bar" but before the sniveling, consider the value,, the crackers are already delivered to the, un-usable-as-a -refrigerator, refrigerator and just a half step from the bed.(matter of fact, three of the rooms four walls are only a half step from the bed, except at the hall way, the other wall is against the head ofthe bed. Please, don't mistake, not everything is bad, there was a very pretty phone in the room but it did not work. The sheets were only soiled near the top and on the King Bed, my wife and I were provided four king size pillows.. we got lucky, only one of them had been used... and by who? Quien Sabe? but my wife said the hair color smeared on the pillow was much too dark to match even her hi-lites, so she was not willing to sleep on it. You'd suppose one would Call housekeeping but the phone don,t work. Remember this is in my "opinion!" O.K.,Back to the in-room snacks,,, even if you don't use any of the three selections of non-alcohol snacks, they will bill you anyhow and hope you don,t notice/complain. If you do, mention to management that you did not eat any of them and... they still remain in the useless refrigerator, management will remove one per day from your bill. causes me to wonder how many customers go home without checking... 1000 x $6.75??? easy to calculate? Or how many corporate expense accounts are being luxuriously padded by two ounce candy bars? Parking, if you are knowledgable about parking at older downtown hotels, the Allerton is probably standard, but knowing only local to our state and large chain hotels in less less populated and in far less liberal states, I thought on-site parking at every hotel would be the one amenity granted by the cost of the room... incidentally, after our stay and only at my check-out, an extraordinary: "oh, by the way" of $50 per night showed up on the bill. They do not comp this... so, i now have a few new fresh questions to ask prior to paying for the next hotel "accommodation confirmation. thanks for the experience.. "... oh, i forgot, we were kept "so-to-speak" on the street", after the car had been given to thoughtful and secretive valet drivers after they wisked away our car,(they were polite so I forgive them for doing the other part of their job) for almost four hours before we were allowed access to our room.. yep we were sanctioned in the only place available for transients and ruffians, in the bar! Maybe management was offend when we showed up early and i guess we payed the hotel penalty, after all, check-in wasn't until three... we showed up at 2:30 we were lightened successfully by the bar tab... Later, at dinner, the steak was ordered rare and arrived very thin and very black, the price was ok, $28 for seemingly 8 ounces of sole, (as in shoe, not soul, as if someone cared), after it was f

In January of 1944 my parents honeymooned here. I've always wanted to see the hotel and stay here. It was all I'd hoped for and more. I shared some memorabilia with the manager on duty. She was appreciative of the "do not disturb" sign, a card outlining the amenities of the hotel, and the actual bill which listed the costs for four nights and five phone calls, with a grand total of $19.50. The whole experience couldn't have been better!

You couldn't ask for a better location especially for Christmas shopping. Room was small but the location for shopping and good food outweighed anything negative or even average.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Allerton Hotel. Top notch from beginning to end. I guess my only complaint would be the elevator situation. At one point we had to wait ten minutes for an elevator. Other than that, I couldn't have asked for a better hotel experience during my stay in Chicago.

This was a holiday weekend perfect choice. Rooms are really nice but beds are smaller than we're used to. Junior suites have a larger bed and sleeper sofa. Fantiastic location as its 3 blocks from Water Tower, and 3 blocks from everything else. Bar is very nice and has value enu in evening although drinks are steep. The garage is next door but seperate. If you plan to come and go work hat out with the garage in advance. Very nice for an older hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

The room was fantastic, with great views of Michigan Avenue and superior bedding and a fabulous bathroom. I cannot fault the room. The service was not great. We ordered breakfast and it had still not arrived after half an hour. We reminded them (I think they forgot the order), and they then overcharged us. They graciously accepted the check was wrong and adjusted, but the breakfast was very expensive (eat breakfast out -- there are plenty of excellent places nearby) and two coffees that we had later cost $15, which is ridiculous. There is no grand entrance lobby: you enter from the street and then have to take an elevator to reception. Public areas are rather small. The elevators are very slow in arriving. The location is superb, and we got an excellent rate, so overall we had a great time and would recommend the hotel.

Staying at the Allerton this past weekend may have been one of the best choices that I made during my entire trip. The service and staff were great! The room was very comfortable! And I must say, those pancakes in the restaurant on the second floor were delightful! Since the hotel is located in the Magnificent Mile, there was always something to do, a great place to eat and sites to see in the close vicinity of the hotel. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there.

Location was perfect,,staff was very friendly and the room was very clean!! The view wasn't bad either! More amenities such as an in room microwave or fridge would have been nice! Also a hot tub or restaurant choice would add some spark! Would stay again & recommend. Minutes from the train station.

Everything was clean and staff was very helpful. Only complaint is that Executive King was not a King size bed although front desk says it was. Small shower only, no bathtub. Room was very small as were the elevators. Give yourself extra time to get to and from places since you'll be waiting a while for an elevator.
