St Croix Climate
The climate of St Croix varies incredibly depending on where you make your stay. The eastern end of the island is practically a dry desert, while the west side has lush vegetation growing in a tropical environment. Rainfall varies greatly, but basically averages about 1,000 mm. Drought is a problem, and many homes collect rainwater in cisterns.
Getting There & Around
The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport receives non-stop jet service from Miami and Atlanta. It is also possible to reach the island via ferries from other islands and the mainland. Cruise ships also make frequent stops at this island.
There are many taxi services in St Croix, but you should ask for rates ahead of time. Each driver should have a card showing rates and scheduled fees for routes. A complete island tour may cost as much as $45 with one of these taxis.
