Vanderbilt YMCA Hotel New York Guest Reviews
if you are looking for cheap dorm-room type lodging near Park Avenue, it doesn't get any better! might want to bring a reading lamp or a clip-on book light, might want to bring slippers for that long walk down the hall to the shared bathroom. might want to bring an extra blanket or very light sleeping bag to supplement the thin bed covers. might want to bring kleenex or tissues for your room. other than that, it's great! expect a dorm room, and your expectations will be met or exceeded. expect a hotel, and you will be less than satisfied.

Booked a single room for my stay. The room is ultra small. The fridge has a smell to it that I dare not use. There are only 2 bathrooms and toilets for each floor. The Wifi connection is bad that I saw many people hang around the area at the lift area just to get a better signal. Most of the staff are unfriendly. Only good thing about this hostel is the location which is near to the United Nations HQ. The metro is within walking distance but its like a 10 mins walk away.

When we checked in, there was only one front desk employee and a line of customers, so service was very slow. They seem to highly value safety - all members had to register and get their photo ID scanned. They also checked people going up the elevators to the rooms. The rooms were very small - a bunk bed, wall mounted TV, desk, and chair crammed in a tiny room. Not super comfortable, but the price was low for the hotel's proximity to the heart of NYC. Bathrooms and showers are gender-segregated and shared.

i booked the hotel for $80. i checked the hotel. my room was already alloted to someone else. i was given another room which was very dirty and clumsy. i was charged $120 as the person at the reception was not knowing whether payment through web has been received by the hotel or not. i have been asked to vacate the room bt 7.00 am also. very very bad experience.

I did not spend much time there. The room was small, but my purpose was to spend majority of time sightseeing in the beautiful city!
