The Syracuse Rundown
It is not difficult to find things to do in Syracuse. You can open the local paper any day and find something of interest.Syracuse is known for its variety of performing arts venues from comedy to classical music. The city hosts its own Jazz Festival each year as well as the New York State Rhythm and Blues Festival. If you are not able to catch these events, you can enjoy the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra any time you visit. You can also enjoy plays and other artistic performances at The Landmark Theatre or at Syracuse Stage. Take the kids to the International Mask and Puppet Theatre Museum, which offers unique puppet shows as well as a number of fascinating exhibits. If you enjoy cultural and historical attractions, Syracuse has a large variety of museums as well. From the Museum of Science and Technology to the Everson Museum of Art and the Eerie Canal Museum, you can immerse yourself in local culture for hours. When To Go
Syracuse’s continental climate brings warm, humid summers and the surrounding lakes bring freezing snowy winters. Summer temperatures usually peak in the mid-20s C (mid- to high 70s F) and the rain can reach 8-9 cm (3.1-3.5 inches). Spring and fall are brief and pleasant with just over 8 cm (3.1 inches) of rain during these months and chilly temperatures. Temperatures begin to drop to freezing in November and stay in the negative numbers through March. Syracuse is known for its plentiful winter snow, which can accumulate up to 30 cm (11.8 inches) each year. While there have been a few blizzards over the years in Syracuse, the snow usually falls steadily over the course of several days. On average, there are 14-17 snowy days per month from December to February. It is also a rainy city during other seasons.

Getting There
You can drive into Syracuse using several different routes, but most people will use US Highways 11 or 20 and Interstates 81, 90, 481 and 690, depending on the direction from which you are travelling. The best way to get around Syracuse is by car as well. You can also use bus or train transportation into this city as both modes service the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center. You can use Megabus for routes from Rochester, New York City, Buffalo, Buffalo Airport, Philadelphia and Toronto. Greyhound offers service from many cities in the US and Canada as well. The Syracuse International Airport is the closest airport, but you may also fly into Buffalo and take the bus or rent a car for that last leg of your trip.
