Stateline, NV Hotels

The Stateline Rundown ... Read more »
Without a doubt, casinos are the main attractions for Stateline, but its convenient location on the border between California and Nevada makes this town accessible to a number of popular locations such as Lake Tahoe – a ski resort Mecca in the Sierra Nevada – and Carson City, the state’s capital. Five major casinos fuel the economy for Stateline, and they are all located in the proximity of Kingsbury Grade also called State Route 207. Stateline residents and tourists who are not heavy gamblers tend to gravitate towards the Lakeside Inn Casino, but the other four resort casinos in Stateline, would appeal more to high rollers. MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa is currently owned by Tropicana Entertainment, but it was once a Caesar’s Palace affiliate. Harrah’s Lake Tahoe resort offers entertainment venues featuring big Hollywood names and luxury accommodations as well as 24/7 casino operation. Harvey’s Lake Tahoe casino resort is less flashy but offers great food and reasonable rates. There is a wedding chapel and health club on the premises. The Horizon Resort Casino was once a venue for Elvis Presley (the real one), and the rooms he used are available as a special suite.
When To Go
Since it is closer to Lake Tahoe, Stateline does not have the desert climate that is common for many other parts of the state. The summers are warm, reaching highs around 26°C (79°F) in July and August. Winters can be quite cold with temperatures falling to -8 to -9°C (18-16°F). The most pleasant months are September and October, but you will need a jacket for the evenings. If you travel closer to the mountains, you will definitely see some snow in colder months, but Stateline, is a fairly dry area. Most months only see around 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inches) of rain, but January is usually the wettest month with 4-5 cm (1.6-2) of accumulation. The total average annual rainfall for Stateline is 42 cm (16.5 inches).

Getting There
If you are driving to Stateline, you will use US Highway 50 and possibly State Route 207 from the east. Keep in mind that this is the Sierra Nevada region, which means you may encounter snow hazards as you travel towards the mountains. Be sure to have tire chains with you in case you need them. The nearest airport is Reno/Tahoe International Airport, which is an hour’s drive to Stateline. Alternately, the Sacramento airport is a couple of hours from the California side. You can travel by bus or train to Stateline as well. Amtrak offers several lines to include the California Zephyr Train. If you are staying in one of the resorts, you may have access to shuttle buses to the train station or airport.
