Seattle Events
The 65th Annual Seattle Boat Show in Seattle runs from the end of January until the beginning of February. It features over 1,000 boats, a wide array of boating accessories as well as free seminars.
Celebrating over 20 years, the Northwest Flower & Garden Show has Seattleblooming in February, andoffers visitors the opportunity to view full-scale and beautifully landscaped gardens.
In March, Seattle celebrates all things Irish at the Irish Festival. Tourists can experience the spirit and life through Gaelic games, movies, cultural exhibits and much more.
The 37th Annual Seattle Film Festival in May features a viewing event like no other. Come check out every type of cinema from the US and around the world.
The entire month of June hosts the Seafair Seattle,the largest festival in the Northwest. Rated as one of the top 10 events in the country, this festival is a must-see.
Food from restaurants, companies and beer gardens combine to create the Bite of Seattle. This summer festival comes every July since 1982 and offers live entertainment, wine tasting, and even a comedy club.
Rock out in August at the Seattle Music Fest, which takes place at the beautiful Alki Beach.
The Bumbershoot Seattle, an enormous three-day party in September, celebrates the end of summer with displays from over 2,000 amazing artists. Learn new dance moves, take in a film at the film festival, or speak with famous authors and artists from around the world.
The annual Jazz Festival lasts two weeks from October to November. During the festival, Seattle will be home to notable jazz musicians. There will be jam sessions, concerts, classes as well as lectures and workshops.
New Years’ will go off with a bang at the base of the famous Space Needle.A fireworks display that has over 2,000 pyrotechnic effects, this New Year's Eve will be a spectacular show that only Seattle can pull off.
When To Go
From mid-June until September, Seattle has the best weather. The climate is dry and warm, with average temperatures from 70°F (22°C) to 80°F (27°C). Sometimes there may be a week with hotter weather in July.
November through March is considered mid-winter with rainy weather. Typically in the form of drizzle rather than downpours, Seattle only receives an average annual precipitation of 37 inches. Temperatures are typically in the mid 30s (2°C) to low 50s (11°C), with occasional snowfall.
Mild, relatively good weather comes to Seattle during April until June. Sunny spring days bring everything to life with warm days, cool nights, and less rain.
Getting There
By air, SeaTac (Seattle Tacoma International airport) is located 12 miles (19km) south of Seattle. Travel time is about 20 to 40 minutes. SeaTac offers service from over 20 airlines.
The daily Amtrak passenger service, Empire Builder, runs from the Seattle/Portland area and Chicago. Coastal Starlight, the passenger service, travels between Seattle and Los Angeles. As fort the Cascades, it stops in Seattle from destinations of British Columbia, Vancouver, and Eugene-Springfield, Oregon.
The Greyhound bus provides passengers with rides to Seattle that arrive in northern downtown.
