The compact mountain range is in northeast Pennsylvania and approximately 200 km from Times Square and Midtown Manhattan. The Poconos contain a residential population of close to 350,000 people, who, all told, live in the Mountain Region, Lake Region, Delaware River Region, Upper Delaware River Region, and Lehigh River Gorge Region. A variety of small towns dot the mountain range but for the most part, the inherent allure of the Poconos resides in the myriad state parks and game lands that populate the area. Worthwhile points of interest include the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Pocono Indian Museum and Quiet Valley Farm Museum.
