If you get to Orlando in January, head to the Orange City Blue Springs Manatee Festival for arts, crafts, entertainment and conservation-themed events.

Toss the Caber later in the month at Orlando’s annual Central Florida Scottish Highland Games, or spend the afternoon doing the Highland Fling!

February is time for the Annual Mount Dora Arts Festival, one of the largest in the state with works on display by up to 300 artists from Orlando and all corners of the globe.

In early March, immerse yourself in the Central Florida Fair, and join all the activities Orlando has to offer. Later on, stay well above par at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Golf Tournament at his home course in Orlando, the Bay Hill Club and Lodge.

Get ready for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival in April and be blown away by the blooms at Orlando’s Disney World Resort.

When to go

Orlando is right in the middle of the temperate zone, so you’ll find the weather there pleasant whenever you go. Central Florida has lows around 60°F (15°C) in the coldest months, and it gets up to a very comfortable 82°F (28°C) in the summertime.

Rainfall is minimal in winter with an average of about 3 inches (75mm) per month, to a high of around 7 inches (180mm) in the summertime, so an umbrella might be wise for those warm tropical showers.

Orlando is good to go anytime of the year, but all the regular holidays count as high tourist season, so if you can get there any other time, you’ll have space to move and see everything.

Getting there

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is 14 kilometres southeast of downtown Orlando and serves more than 30 airlines, both domestic and international. Be sure to get the right airport, as there are several others that go by that name, but if you add the MCO you’ll end up in the right place.

The Greyhound Bus station is located on the John Young Parkway, just west of downtown Orlando. In town you can use the extensive LYNX bus system. While you’re checking out International Drive, be sure to take the trolley.
