Owner George Steinbrenner could hardly have scripted it any better. After initial condemnation over cost overruns and high ticket prices, the season wore on, the team won and criticism gave way to praise. In the aftermath of a championship win, the general consensus on Yankee Stadium is for the most part positive. For tough-to-please New Yorkers, keenly aware that the stadium’s price-tag came out just under Wembley’s £800 million, that’s as good as it gets.

The new Yankee Stadium has 50,086 seats. The stadium’s exterior mirrors the old Yankee Stadium and is made entirely of Indiana limestone, granite and concrete.
As with the original Yankee Stadium, the new ballpark is accessible by the 161st Street – Yankee Stadium Subway station.
Tours of Yankee Stadium take place outside of the MLB season and include the Yankees Museum, Monument Park and dugout.
