Times Square is the site of the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop, a tradition that began in 1907. The huge event draws hundreds of thousands of revellers to the Manhattan junction. The TKTS booth is a tremendously popular landmark with tourists on the lookout for cheap Broadway show tickets. Queues at the booth snake round Duffy Square at the north end of Times Square throughout the day. Other points of interest in the vicinity of the Gotham hub include New York Times Tower, Times Square Tower, the Condé Nast Building and One Worldwide Plaza. All told however, the brilliant LED lights of Times Square are the main attraction.

Times Square is the most prominent commercial and hotel hub in Midtown Manhattan.
