While Manhattan and New York City’s boroughs offer a dizzying array of eye candy and tourist attractions, the greater metro area, which includes parts within the states of Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, deserves a positive reception as well.

From the raw, gritty and industrial fabric of Newark, New Jersey to the decidedly white collar, elegant and opulent confines of The Hamptons, Long Island, metro New York is a wild and eclectic cocktail. Cozy hamlets like New Haven and Stamford, Connecticut link with Manhattan via rapid mass transit, while towns like Paterson, New Jersey and the state capital Trenton offer quiet, lovely respites from the Big Apple. Rural New Jersey, a hop, skip and a jump from Manhattan, has a wealth of farmland and a copious bounty of wonderful produce and comestible goods for food lovers. Last but not least, museums and cultural attractions abound in close vicinity to the Ive League haunts of Princeton and Yale.
