In order to reach National City by plane, fly into San Diego International Airport. Take a bus or drive 9 miles south along Interstate 5. To arrive from the east by car, come into San Diego on Interstate 8 and take the Interstate 5 exit south.There are a number of options when it comes to getting around locally. San Diego operates buses and trains in the area. The California highway system is well developed, and travel by car is convenient.
