Chinatown of Los Angeles is located at the intersection of Hill Street and Broadway. At Hill St. exit off the Pasadena Freeway. A Main Gateway welcomes locals and tourist to an alluring world of age old Asian traditions. The day of the Lunar New Year is the most celebrated holiday of the year for millions of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese descent in Southern California. Golden Dragon Parade is taken out and approximately 110,000 individuals take part in the parade. This colorful celebration along North Broadway has become the premiere cultural event in the Southern California.
The Los Angeles Chinatown temple, at Yale St., is one of 1,000 temples worldwide dedicated to the goddess Lin. It is named as The Chua Ba Thien Hua or Camau Temple and is a traditional Chinese temple where prayers and worship are offered to ancestors and Chinese gods. Most of the masonry, ceiling, and decorative art was done in China and assembled here.
The Hop Louie Restaurant Pagoda is the center point of Central Plaza. Formerly the Golden Pagoda Restaurant, the five tier pagoda is the last major landmark to be erected in Chinatown’s Central Plaza.
The Twin Dragon Towers Gateway at 600 North Broadways is a four-story-tall monument which stands 25 feet high where the twin dragons resting on four steel pillars appear to descend from the clouds. This Dragon Gateway symbolizes luck, prosperity and longevity. It spans the entrance to Chinatown at Cesar Chavez Ave and North Broadway.
The Chinatown is centrally located and well connected to the town by Metro Gold Line Trains and other means of transportation. Cheap hotels can be easily found. Few of them include Best Western Dragon Gate Inn Los Angeles, Days Inn - Los Angeles, and Wilshire Grand Hotel Los Angeles which are only a short stroll to Chinatown. A quality 4 star hotel can be found at New Otani Hotel and Garden Los Angeles.
