When to Go
The weather in Maui is typically warm year-round, and the seasons do not change drastically, so you may want to plan the trip according to the activities that interest you rather than by the weather.
The temperatures in the summer and spring months are usually in the 80s F (high 20s C) with lows in the 70s F (low 20s C). During the autumn and winter months, the temperature drops less than 10 degrees.
There is very little rainfall in Maui, but it rains more in the winter months than any other time of year.
Getting There
Kahului Airport is the main hub in Maui for air travel, and it is the second largest airport in Hawaii. Most major airlines offer service to this airport.
For those who like to drive, the main roads on Maui are Honoapiilani Highway, Hana Highway, and
Haleakala Highway. Be sure to keep a map with you, and watch out for roads that narrow to single lanes abruptly.
Lahaina Kaanapali Railroad, alsocalled the “Sugar Cane Train” by the locals, is a novel and leisurely way to travel between the Kaanapali resort area and Lahaina Town.
