When To Go

Summer months, June through August, are typically the best months to visit Denver. From December to February, the weather is chilly with occasional snowfall. Although the snow melts quickly in the metro area, the mountains stay snow-capped all season. Skiers and snow bunnies alike say that this is the main thing they love about Denver. In the fall, Denver comes alive with the Rocky Mountains being transformed into a golden Mecca. Warm days and with cool evenings are great for outdoor exploring, fishing, and camping.

Getting There

By train - Union Station, located at 17th and Wynkoop, is a historic train station in Denver. Open since 1881, the station serves Amtrak, as well as being a hub for the city's light rail system.

By air - Denver is served by Denver International Airport. This unique airport features a mountain peak fibreglass roof (which is lit at night), marble walls and its own solar energy farm. Situated on the northeastern edge of Denver, it takes about 30 minutes to reach the metro area. The public Denver Transportation System (RTD) has buses running from the airport to the downtown area, but that ride takes almost an hour.

Travelling to Denver by car will bring you by way of the interstate freeways. I-25 or I-70. Interstate 25 runs north to south from New Mexico through Denver to Wyoming. Interstate 70 goes east to west from Utah to Maryland.
