Favourite Cities and Hotels in United States

Synonymous with NASCAR and spring break, Daytona Beach, Florida is a small city with big appeal. One of several default party places for college students on vacation in the United States, the town with a metro population of 500,000 is a seasonal coastal area.

Tropical storm and hurricane season certainly narrows the timeframe for visitors to Daytona Beach. A notable magnet for natural disasters, that potential downside is a small risk in comparison to the famously clement weather the area receives year round. Warm Atlantic Ocean waters, firm sand and sunshine make Daytona Beach a great destination for young and old alike.

Daytona International Speedway

The city's foremost landmark and home of the NASCAR equivalent of the Super Bowl in the Daytona 500, the International Speedway is open to the public every day. The track site features the Daytona 500 Experience, an interactive motorsports museum.

Living Legends of Auto Racing Museum

A must for motorsports enthusiasts, Daytona's Auto Racing Museum has a superb collection of memorabilia, cars and photographs from some of the best drivers in history.

Speedweeks and Daytona 500

The three weeks that lead up to the most important race on the NASCAR calendar are full of great race events, anticipation and fun in Daytona Beach. The 500 however, is why most people come. The preeminent race in February is the first of the season in NASCAR and draws a television audience in excess of 20 million.

Biketoberfest

One of the premier motorcycle events in America takes place every October in Daytona Beach. With races, street festivals and charity races, the multi-day party draws thousands of choppers and hogs to the city.

Bike Week

The "World's Largest Motorcycle Event" takes over Daytona Beach in late February and early March with shows, races at the International Speedway and festival fun.

Spring Break

Late February and the month of March is the traditional period where college students on spring break crowd Daytona Beach, with myriad commercial events and festivals in and around the beach areas that target the sought-after youth demographic.

Other than occasional hurricanes and tropical storms in late summer and the odd tornado in early spring, Daytona Beach weather is rather ideal. The humid subtropical climate signals hot summers and very mild winters.

  • Spring (March to April) 12-26.5°C

Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona Beach is a city that likes it both ways. When it’s not up to its neck in speed and thrills, it’s laid back and soaking up the sunshine on the glorious beaches, preferably sipping on a Margarita and with a keen eye on the bikini-clad local talent. Every year thousands of racing fans make their way to Volusia County to attend the Daytona 500, and find themselves wrapped in the thrilling atmosphere that descends upon this true mecca of motorsports.

It doesn’t end when the engines stop humming, though. Daytona Beach offers nightlife that rivals the excitement of the many sporting events held here. The next day, book a balloon flight from Bob’s Balloon Tours before mellowing out with the family in a rental boat from the Water Toy Shop.
